Idaho – ‘Drive It’

In spite of a title that would be greeted with approval from head honchos at AOR radio stations, “Drive It” is a perfect encapsulation of exquisite pain and beauty. Guitars twinkle to give an iridescent quality whilst residing in an ideal, indefinable hinterland where all the extreme emotions from ecstacy to despair merge. Only comparatively does “Sweep” pale, Jeff Martin’s enervated voice in a pit of despondency but with a hint of impatience; “if the future has a story then let it happen faster”. Some immaculate ivory tinkling intrudes to cement the mood.
